WMF starts next week the volunteers selection process (04-01-2006)

VALENCIA The organization of the 5th World Meeting of the Families (WMF), convoked by the Pope in Valencia for next July, will start next week with the selection process of the volunteers for this WMF. Personal interviews will be held with those who have enrolled as a volunteer.

The interviews will on 14th January. First of all, the first one thousand from the Valencian Community were invited to the Sports and Culture Complex of La Petxina, situated at Paseo de la Petxina, 42, where the Volunteers' Office for the 5th WMF is located.

Last December, 17th, about 40 interview-volunteers met to have a training day, to prepare the interviews which will take about ten minutes with each candidate.

"With the interviews, we want to have the first meeting with the volunteers, and encourage them so to be engaging with their main task they are going to do next July, during the 5th WMF", sources of the Organization told the local agency AVAN.

When the selection process is finished, "it will be communicated what are the tasks for each of the volunteers, always having in mind the preferences told by the volunteers", said the same source.

"For those who have difficulties to attend the interview as they live far from Valencia, a questionary will be sent. This questionary will be sent by mail about Mid-January and the volunteers will have to complete it within a weeks' time", said the Organization.

The volunteers' functions will include the personal attention to the participants, meeting them at stations, port and airport, giving information to the pilgrims in different parts of the city, collaborating in the Press centre, translating and interpreting, and in the logistics of the events, as well as accompanying authorities and coordination of groups

"Anybody over the age of 18 and those over 16, with parents' consent who apply and are selected for the differents positions to cover" can take part as volunteers in this 5th WMF, according to sources from the Foundations in charge of the organization of the 5th WMF, constituted by the Archbishop of Valencia, the Valencian Parlament, the Town Hall of Valencia and the Diputación of Valencia.

Nearly two thousand volunteers from differents parts of the world have already made their inscription through the website of the 5th WMF. Besides Spain, Brasil, Peru, Argentina, Italy, Mexico and the USA are the countries with most inscriptions for volunteering.
