Cardinal López Trujillo oversees preparations for the WMF in Valencia (05-09-2005)

VALENCIA - This Monday, the colombian cardinal Alfonso López Trujillo, president of the pontiff's council for the families, arrived in Valencia to continue with the preparations for the WMF, which is going to be celebrated in the valencian capital between the 4th and 9th of July 2006, and which invocation by pope John Paul II was confirmed by his successor Benedict XVI, according to information from the agency AVAN.

In this two days, the cardinal will meet various committees of the WMF foundation, which patron is formed by representatives of the archdiocese of Valencia, the Valencian autonomous government, the town hall and the regional county council.

It is his second visit in less then three month. The last visit on the 14th June, he walked some of the proposed sites for the Meeting in the Valencian capital where, according to sources of the archbishops office, it is planned for the pope to chair the event.

Cardinal López Trujillo described as "imposing and beautiful" the proposed place for the situation of the altar, the Plaza Europa, in front of the "City of Science". He assured as well how the WMF in Valencia 2006 is an "enormous challenge, but also the enormous confidence we have in Valencia and Spain".
Furthermore, more than a hundred thousand leaflets and brochures about the next WMF have been distributed by the majority of the 2000 young valencians, who participated at the World Youth Meeting in Cologne (Germany) hosted by the pope Benedict XVI in august. The young valencians handed the promotion material out in some twenty locations in France and Germany, as well as among the participants of the Youth Meeting.
The brochures invite to participate at the WMF in Valencia and offer information about the content of the meeting, planned activities, the website and useful addresses. Also it contains information about the city of Valencia, which will host the WMF.
